ILD-100

The ILD – 100, is a fully-instrumented contact tester for characterizing asperity-level mechanical properties of dry, as well as moist, pads and PVA brush samples.

The system, which can be operated in incremental, as well as cyclic modes, measures the gap between a reference plane in contact with the sample surface and a stationary capacitance probe under different loads.

When loads are applied to or released from the sample surface, the gap changes and a load-displacement relationship can be measured that shows evidence of surface elastic-plastic deformation as well as rebound and creep.
In most cases, the elastic-plastic data display nonlinear features characteristic of a rough surface response rather than a bulk response.

The asperity features of dry pad samples extracted using the ILD – 100 have been separately verified via white light interferometry (a non-contact method that produces a visible surface height probability density function).

Please refer to our ILD – 100 Brochure and ILD – 100 Technical Digest for details on the various features and capabilities of the tool along with our latest product specifications.
